Pickering & Ryedale Folk Museum

Enjoy a coach trip out to the bustling & vibrant town of Pickering - a town that revels in nostalgia. Plus a visit to the Ryedale Folk Museum. 

Pickering Tea rooms and shops have a gloriously vintage flavour, including the north’s largest antique centre, and a bakery still serving its original Yorkshire recipes from 1865. You can step into the reconstructed Victorian pubs, shops and parlours of the Beck Isle Museum; wander the battlements of Pickering Castle; or marvel at one of Europe’s most important medieval treasures: the stunning wall art of St Peter and St Paul’s Church.

Time does not stand still in Pickering, though: this is a thriving market town with over 100 independent stores.

Later we continue onto the Ryedale Folk Museum nestled in the beautiful village of Hutton-le-Hole . Step back in time and explore A typical Iron Age Roundhouse, a Medieval crofters cottage, thatched Elizabethan Manor house , an 18th Century thatched cottage, a Victorian thatched cottage, traditional workshops (blacksmith, cobbler, tinsmith plus farming equipment, a nostalgic 1950's village shop & chemist.  

There is also Tradiitonal games incuding stick and hoop, quoits and skipping. There is a play house in the form of a Gypsy caravan and a tractor zone for the children aged 5 and under.

Mobility Scooters can be borrowed free of charge at Ryedale Museum.   Much of the site is wheelchair accessible.
