Flanders & the Western Front
Enjoy 3 nights 4 day tour of the Flanders & Western front stayinig at the 3 star Acacias hotel in France. Tour to include Bed, Breakfast, Evening meal in the hotel, Shuttle to France. A visit To Ypres including tour guide, A visit to tyne Cot Cemetary. A full day to the Somme and chance to see war graves.
This is one of our unique European tours of 2025 visiting Flanders and the Western Front. Staying at the 3 star Logis Hotel Des Acacias in Lille on Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. Tour includes Return coach Travel, Euro Tunnel crossing and Visits to Ypres, Tyne Cot Cemetary, a full day to the Somme, Lijssenthoek Military Cemetary and visitor centre.
Day 1: Departing from your home town we travel to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel crossing to France. We continue along the coast, past Dunkerque and Veurne, before travelling to Lille Tourcoing for a 3 night stay in the Acacias hotel.There will be a Welcome drink on arrival. 1st night will be bed & breakfast , 2nd & 3rd night will be Dinner Bed & Breakfast.
Day 2: After breakfast we spend a a morning in Ypres with a possible visit to the "In Flanders Fields Museum". Then meet the included guide for a 2 hour walk through Ypres, stopping at the Cloth Hall and Menin Gate. In the afternoon visit Tyne Cot Cemetary and return to Ypres with time at leisure around the Grote Market where there are a host of restaurants. At 8pm see the Last Post Ceremony before returning to hotel in Lille in time for evening meal.
Day 3: After breakfast we spend a full day to the Somme. See Peronne, Lochnagar Crater, Thiepval Memorial and Newfoundland Park. After a rewarding day we return to the hotel in time for Evening meal.
Day 4: After breakfast we start our journey home with a visit to Poperinge which at one time was one of only two towns in Belgium not under German occupation. See Talbot House and the Town Hall. If time allows a further short stop can be made at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetary and visitor Centre, site of the largest evacuation hospital along the Ypres Salient. We then continue our journey home.
