Carlisle, Dumfries & Annandale Distillery
A fabulous weekend break over the border to Scotland including a visit to a whisky distillery and free time in Hexham, Dumfries and Carlisle.
Enjoy a fabulous weekend tour to Carlisle, Dumfries & Annandale Distillery staying at the Holiday Inn Dumfries. The hotel is on the edge of Dumfries, nestled in the picturesque Crichton Estate offering an idyllic backdrop for your stay. The restaurant and bar offer views overlooking the Crichton Estate. All bedrooms offer TV , Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuite bathroom, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.
Day one: We depart from your home area in the morning and travel to the historic market town of Hexham where you will be given the chance to explore the network of pretty streets scattered with galleries, coffee shops, boutiques and Bistros. After spending some free time here we continue across the Scottish border and arrive late afternoon at Holiday Inn Dumfries staying for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day two: After breakfast we travel to Dumfries where you will have free time to explore at leisure. Perhaps visit the Robert Burns House, enjoy a stroll along the River Nith or browse the shops and enjoy some lunch. After time spent here we continue the journey onto Annandale Distillery for a tour of the facility and learn more about the production.
The Distillery still uses traditional methods to manufacture single cask malt whisky. As a momento of the tour, you will receive a small gift pack to take home. We then return back to the hotel in time for Evening meal.
Day Three: After breakfast we depart the hotel and head to the festive town of Carlisle where you will be given free time to explore the town at your own leisure. Perhaps visit Carlisle Castle, the cathedral or enjoy a little retail therapy on the high street. After free time we continue our journey home taking away some great memories of the weekend.
