Seahouses and Holy Island
A day excursion to the working fishing town of Seahouses and a drive over the causeway to HolyIsland (Lindisfarne)
Enjoy our Coastal day trip to our first stop of the day - across the Causeway to the pint-sized island of Holy Island with it's Ancient Priory and coastal Castle. This place of worship, tranquillity and breath-taking beauty was the home of St Cuthbert, who allegedly held the power of spiritual healing. The Lindisfarne Priory is the epicentre of Christianity in Anglo Saxon times and once the home of St Oswald. Ransacked by marauding Viking raiders in the 8th century, the evocative ruins of Lindisfarne Priory include the famous ‘rainbow bridge’ which spirals skywards with the ghost of a long-vanished tower.
After free time in Holy Island we then take you to The colourful fishing village of Seahouses with it's bursting harbour bustling harbour, an Aladdin’s Cave of shops, and plenty of ways to see the local wildlife. Visitors are also welcome at The Fisherman’s Kitchen, where historic fishing memorabilia and curios are displayed alongside the local catch-of-the-day.
