Cotswolds Summer Gardens

Enjoy a 4 nights / 5 day tour staying at the beautiful 3 Star Charlecote Pheasant Hotel in the village of Charlecote on Dinner, bed & breakfast. Tour includes Entrance into Sudeley Castle & Gardens, Painswick Rococo Gardens, and excursions to Stratford-upon-Avon, Gloucester & Cheltenham

Enjoy 4 nights / 5 day tour staying at the 3 Star Charlecote Pheasant hotel - a beautiful country house set in the village of Charlecote.  It is perfectly located with the historic towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and LEamington Spa all nearby.  The hotel boasts its own landscaped gardens, plus exquisite period furnishings.

With a wealth of delightful features and quiet corners to discover, the little hamlet is a joy to explore at any time of year. Perfect for a stroll, afternoon tea or even or a walk to the Charlecote Mill where you can buy your own flour.

Day One - We depart from your home area travelling to Stratford-upon-Avon arriving at the Charlecote Pheasant Hotel late afternoon for 4 nights stay on Dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day Two -  After breakfast we depart the hotel and travel to the fantastic Sudeley Castle & Gardens, located in the heart of the Cotswolds.  The castle hosts exhibits of fascinating treasuresfrom ancient Roamn times to the present day.  Discover the castle's greatest treasures, stories and historic secrets as you explore the exhibitions, enter the private Castle Rooms, and visit the exquisite final resting place of Tudor Queen, Katherine Parr.

Outside, the castle is surrounded by breathtaking 1,200-acre estate and ten award winning gardens.  The centrepiece is the Queen's Garden - a must-see on this excursion.

We continue the journey on to the spa town of Cheltenham - located just outside of the Cotswolds. Cheltenham is brimming with history. As you stroll along the promenade, considered one of the most beautiful in the country with its tree-lined avenue flanked by smart shops and cafe,  it’s easy to see why it became the hip 18th century hang out for holidaying Brits, after the enterprising Henry Skillicorne unearthed its health-giving spa waters – even gaining the Royal Seal Of Approval after the visit of the then-reigning monarch, George III.

Later in the afternoon we return to the hotel in time for evening meal.

Day Three - After breakfast, we depart hotel and travel to Hidcote Manor Garden, an Arts and Crafts garden in the north Cotswolds, just a stone's throw from Stratford-upon-Avon.  Explore the maze of narrow paved pathways and discover secret gardens, magnificent vistas, and plants that burst with colour.  A visit to Hidcote would not be complete without a visit to Winthrop's Café or the National Trust Shop. Tuck into light bites and hot and cold drinks at Winthrop’s or The Barn Kiosk (takeaway only). Afterwards, head to the National Trust Shop, Plant Centre and Second-hand Bookshop, where you'll find a wide range of gifts and souvenirs to take home with you.

Later in the afternoon we atravel to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare.  You will have plenty of time to wander the street looking for a bargain in an independent store or maybe visit Shakespeare's birthplace to learn about the man himself.  Later in the afternoon we return to the hotel for evening meal.

Day Four - After breakfast we depart hotel and travel to  the Painswick Rococ Garden - the only surviving garden of the Rococo period open to the public.  Painswick Rococo Garden is a beautiful place to escape, explore and imagine.

Laid out in a hidden valley around Painswick House, the Garden is now the country's only complete surviving rococo garden.  Since 1984, the Garden has been rescued from ruin and transformed into a stunning place to escape the busy world.  You can drink in the vista from the Eagle House, sit in the Doric seat, climb the narrow steps to the octagonal Pigeon House and have your photo taken in the Gothic Alcove.  There are beautifully-framed views throughout the year, the chance to battle to find the centre of the unusual maze - and of course delicious homemade food in the cosy cafe afterwards.

The Garden is famous for its snowdrops in winter.

Later in the afternoon we travel to Gloucester  where you can enjoy the afternoon amongst the pretty cityscape.  Perhaps visit the quayside, dockyards, museums or maybe enjoy lunch in the town  or visit the high street fro some retail therapy.

We then travel back to hotel ready for evening meal.

Day Five - After breakfast  we depart for our journey home.
