Cruising in the Lake District & Leighton Hall

Enjoy a 4 nights 5 day stay at the beautifull Grange Hotel located in an unrivalled position in the pretty little coastal town of Grange-over-Sands on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis.  This lovely setting, with its breathtaking panoramic bay views, is only fifteen miles from Lake Windermere.  Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and steam room.  All bedrooms are en-suite and television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities.

 

Grange-over-Sands - is an elegant town, with strong reminders of its heyday as a fashionable seaside resort in the 19th century – all thanks to the balmy influence of the Gulf Stream and the arrival of the railroad in the 1850s. Grange’s Victorian and Edwardian elegance is still very much in evidence today, in its ornamental gardens, attractive shopping arcades and its long seafront promenade.

 

Day One - We depart your home town and travel to Cumbria arriving late afternoon at The Grange Hotel, Grange-over-Sands for 4 nights stay on Dinner, Bed & Breakfast.  Tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival.

 

Day Two - After breakfast we depart hotel and head to the pretty little market town of Ambleside, with time to explore the picturesque town and its wide variety of independent stores, museums, and cafes. Later in the afternoon we head to Grasmere, the village known best for its famous gingerbread!  We then return back to hotel for evening meal.

 

Day Three - After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way to the Cumbrian market town of Kendal - home of the 'mint cake'.  Kendal boasts two Castles and is home to a fine selection of shopping arcades, museums and a host of historical buildings along with the views that would please the most demanding photographer.

 

In the afternoon we journey to Bowness-on-Windermere, a bustling tourist hotspot with independent shops, interesting museums and plenty of places to eat!.  After free time we jump on board the Windermere Cruise from Bowness to Lakeside.  After the cruise we depart and return back to hotel in time for evening meal.

 

Day Four - After breakfast we journey to Leighton Hall Estate  located in Carnforth.  This impressive grade two * listed stately hall is the family home of the famous Gillow furniture-making family who sre still residents today.  We will enjoy a guided tour and have the chance to explore the famous collection of Gillow furniture, 'objets d'art', and the gardens.  After our visit, we depart for the seaside town  of Morecambe - known for its stunning sunets and seaside charm.  It also has the famous statue of Eric Morecambe.  After free time here we depart and return back to hotel for evening meal.

 

Day Five - After breakfast we depart hotel for our return journey home.
